Aerial Firefighting
With a relentless focus on innovation, global reach, and unmatched aerial capabilities, Coulson Aviation is a vertically integrated firefighting company that designs, engineers, manufactures, and operates every asset in its fleet. From state-of-the-art Air Attack jets with advanced intel packages, to dedicated intel helicopters, very large heli-tankers, and the world’s largest volume large air tankers, we deliver fast, effective, and coordinated wildfire suppression when and where it matters most.
Unmatched Aerial Firefighting Capabilities
Coulson Aviation is the global leader in aerial firefighting. The only company of its kind operating both large aerial tanker (LAT) airplanes and Type 1 helicopters, we fight fires on multiple continents year-round, day and night. Our diverse fleet includes custom-designed Hercules C-130s, Sikorsky S-61 helicopters, Boeing Chinook CH-47 helitankers, Sikorsky Black Hawk UH-60 helitankers, and the custom-converted Boeing 737 FireLiner™ equipped with our proprietary RADS-XXL technology.
The Coulson organization remains committed to innovation, not imitation. We are the first and only company in the world to convert a Boeing 737 commercial airliner into a FireLinerTM tanker. Different from every other next generation LAT, the FireLiner can transfer firefighters without reconfiguration and can fly unrestricted at maximum speeds and altitudes with a load of retardant.
Coulson was also the first aerial firefighting company to aggressively develop innovative, industry-changing nighttime fire suppression technology and protocols for successful and safe after dark operations utilizing night vision goggles (NVG).
Our team tirelessly customizes, maintains, and operates a wide range of aircraft types that support critical aerial support missions. Beyond aircraft, Coulson offers comprehensive, robust training programs to ensure local crews are trained to the highest standards prior to conducting aerial firefighting missions. This holistic approach allows Coulson Aviation to maintain 24/7/365 readiness to battle a blaze anywhere in the world.
